Chicago Tribune: At edge of darkness, blog sheds light on life
Last Updated on Wednesday, 23 December 2009 19:25 Written by Dawn Trice Wednesday, 23 December 2009 18:57
The topics Anne Marie Schlekeway has broached in her young blog, KissMyALS.com, go way beyond where mere mortals would even dare tread.
Her Nov. 22 entry is about pooping: "To speed the process while on the pot -- lift both arms over your head. I don't know why this works but it does every time!"
Her Nov. 4 post examines one of the early signs of her ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease: "Trouble breathing in the missionary position during sex: what I thought was me getting fat was really weakened muscles in the diaphragm."
Thank You! And Acknowledgements :

Hello All!
I am overwhelmed by the response to Dawn Trice's article in the Chicago Tribune on Dec 14th, 2009 about this sight. Dawn was immensely patient with me and spent an hour and a half really getting in my world regarding my experiences with ALS and the impact it's had on my life. She was gracious and insightful and I couldn't be more pleased by the well written interview she published! Thank you Dawn for a fantastic job and treating me so well, I appreciate the care you took with my story!
Just so ya'll know the "swanky downtown restaurant" was Naha, at 500 N Clark. I tend to go to places where I am known and do not have to explain why I need another napkin or worry about the service. Micheal Nahabedian and Chef Carrie Nahabedian have been a fantastic support for me and my family and friends. Naha is where I go to splurge on the best, and where I can go to be welcomed as if I'm coming home.
I acknowledge my friend Colin Burke the General Manager at Lasalle Power Co., 500 N Lasalle for agreeing to host the upcoming Kiss My ALS fundraiser, and for being a tremendous support walking me through how to throw a party of this magnitude. I thank the staff as well for all they're doing and will provide at the event itself.
Most of all I am grateful for all of you who have taken time out of your day to look at this sight, read a post or 2 and lend your comments to the conversation. I have met so many of you via email in the last few days and all of your messages of support and advice are being heard!
Let's make some more noise!!!
Thank you for your time and consideration in the campaign to create a cure for ALS!
Love,
Anne Marie

Come to this fabulous event where a great band, Lynne Jordan and the Shivers (who regularly pack Green Dolphin Street), will entertain us for the night.
There will be music, signature cocktails, a champagne bar, raffles, SWAG...
